Victoria Emily Jones

Victoria Emily Jones graduated from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill in 2010 with a BA in journalism and English literature and a minor in music, and she has done some postgraduate coursework in worship and the arts at Regent College in Vancouver. Now she works as an editorial freelancer and pursues independent research on Christianity and the arts, with a special interest in visual art that engages with biblical narratives, especially from the twentieth century onward and/or from non-Western cultures.

The mission of Art & Theology is to help the church rediscover its rich heritage in the visual, literary, and musical arts and to open it up to the activity of contemporary artists, whose giftings can enable us to see God in new and different ways. Art can enhance our spiritual perception, enrich our prayer lives, stimulate renewed engagement with the Bible, make us more empathetic, challenge our beliefs in a healthy way, and bring us into more intimate contact with the world. Art testifies; it questions; it holds accountable; it stirs and reveals.

“I thoroughly enjoyed being introduced and reintroduced to Our Missionaries, Class of 2025. What a great read. While it is my ultimate responsibility to be in the know about who we support, I thank you for extending this courtesy of re-informing me on who our missionaries are. I look forward to operating intentionally when it comes to being apart of something greater than myself. We seem to be a perfect match for this class of 2025. The things that are important and sacred to them are the same for us. “Art testifies; it questions; it holds accountable; it stirs and reveals”  I love this statement. It’s totally us & It’s totally them. That’s pretty spectacular.

Thanks for taking the time,

-FM”
